Axa Lilly Whetstone, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025. She was born on January 14, 1949, to Alberto and Fransisca Lilly Espada in Puerto Rico. From a young age, Axa exhibited a deep love for music, language, and faith, passions that would shape the course of her life.
Axa married the love of her life, Barry Whetstone, in 1969, and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and service. Their journey together, began in Oklahoma and crossed the United States from California to New York and many places in between. They pastored numerous churches, always fostering a strong sense of community and spiritual growth among their congregations and communities. As a devoted pastor's wife, Axa found joy in directing choirs, playing the organ and piano in church, leading women's ministries, and opening her home to those in need.
